What Are The Most Gorgeous Buffalo Hikes?

If you love the Big Apple, then surely you must have heard of Buffalo, which is situated in Western New York. There are some seriously awe inspiring scenic views to be found here. Buffalo Niagara has a natural beauty, the likes of which most people will never seen in their entire lives. Don’t be one of those people and make sure to visit the place and take it all in!

It’s certainly going to be a time you’ll never forget. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

1. Zoar Valley

This site has many old growth forests, so if taking in the flora and fauna of years gone past is your thing, then this is the place for you. There are some very dramatically impressive vistas to be taken in here as well. The recreational opportunities are also very much represented. If you’re outside the village of Gowanda, you can easily access Zoar Valley. You’ve gotta have visited Zoar Valley at least once in your life. It’s one of the most breathtaking spectacles you’ll ever encounter, especially out in the West.

2. Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve

Reinstein Woods is a very hiker friendly place to be. The trails are very well maintained. You can easily walk these trails with a pair of quality hiking sandals. Visitors can easily explore the very diverse flora and fauna that these woods have to offer. As a matter of fact, you are even invited to bring along the kids. There is an environmental center and a nature play era, where you kids can have a ball. Let your children have some fun, while you take a walk around a peaceful pond, which is literally littered with magenta lilies. Meanwhile, the Beech Tree Trail will take you along the biggest beech tree there is to be found in the state!

3. Eternal Flame at Chestnut Ridge

With a name like that, what’s a hiker supposed to expect? Well, exactly what you’d expect, as it turns out! There’s an eternal flame to be found here. This is a natural gas leak, which is situated in a trickling creek waterfall. If you want to see it, you’ll have to trek your way up a ravine. But man, oh man… is it worth it. This is one of the most jaw dropping places you’ll ever find on the whole darn contitent.

4. Tifft Nature Preserve

This preserve is composed of mostly expansive forests and wetlands. There are hiking trails and boardwalks to be found here. Follow along them and you’ll get a good look at the industrial heritage of Buffalo. This preserve used to be a landfill, but has since been rehabilitated. It’s a mere minutes from downtown, so it is easily accessible. This is the ideal quick getaway. If you just so happen to be a bird lover, then these wetlands will give you ample opportunity to spot a few of your beloved winged buddies.

5. Knox Farm State Park

Just outside the village of East Aurora, you will find 600 acres of forested trails and rolling meadows. There are ample hiking opportunities to be found here. The landscape will remind you of everything that’s pleasant about the countryside lifestyle. This is the former estate of the Knox family.

6. Niagara Gorge

If you are the adventurous type, then the Niagara Gorge is something you may want to give a shot. If you like the challenge of a good climb, then this place is going to give you the opportunity to do so. It’s also a suitable hike for scenic strollers, though. But if you’re going to go for the challenge, then make sure to bring a good pair of hiking boots that are able to help you take the beating. At the top of the gorge, you will find the Rim Trail. From this spot, you will get a really great scenic view of the river. If it’s a moderate challenge you want, then go for Devil’s Hole. If i’ts a hard challenge you want, go for the Whirlpool Rapids Trail.

7. Akron Falls County Park

This is generally regarded to be a moderate trail. It will take hikers along Murder Creek, which leads to the lower falls viewing area. Here, you will witness a breathtaking scene of cascades, which tumble over naturally formed limestone formations. If you’re a family man, you are invited to bring along the wife and kids. There is a recreational area where you can play and picnic. All of this put together, makes Akron Falls a really great family outing where you and your next of kind can have memorably, all American pastime that you’ll never forget for the rest of your lives.
