The collar and the tongue of these outdoor boots are very thick. Therefore, you are provided with good cushioning surrounding the upper foot and the lower ankle. However, this feature has been designed to work with laces. The padding is just enough to allow proper lacing.

The moisture-wicking lining on the Banderas will keep your feet dry. They are very comfortable walking with them during medium to light showers since they keep all the water out.

These shoes weigh around 20 oz that is not heavy for a backpacking boot. The weight of the boots reflects their construction. They are not heavy for day hiking while still sturdy enough for backpacking trips.

Other Great Hiking Boots for Women

6. Vasque Women's Breeze 2.0 GTX Hiking Boot

Vasque Women's Breeze 2.0 Gore-Tex Hiking Boot, Gargoyle/African Violet,6.5 M US
  • Vasque's most breathable hiking boot with...
  • GORE-TEX with Extended Comfort Technology for...
  • Molded rubber toe cap
  • Reflective piping
  • Dual Density EVA footbed

The Vasque Breeze is an athletically built and supportive mid-weight hiker. Depending on the user's preferences, it can be purchased together with a waterproof membrane and sometimes without. This hiking boot ranks high in traction, breathability, and comfort.

Support and Stability

It is one of the most supportive and stable trekking boots. Although its mid-cut, its cuff rises well above the ankle, providing foot control and protection when hiking steep trails with loose rocks.

It has been fitted with a thermoplastic urethane plate mainly for stability. This provides you with the required midsole rigidity for exhausting and long hikes. In addition, with a narrow heel box, your instep will feel locked down, which will prevent slippage on those steep trails.

Comfort

Although it appears bulky, the comfort provided by this boot is surprising. The cuff is flexible with enough padding, thus providing gentle support with no bruising. Despite the muscular appearance of the boot, the Vasque Breeze is very responsive and agile.

In terms of comfort, one of the best features added by the manufacturers of this hiking boot is the gusseted tongue. It stays comfortable and flat on your front foot while still keeping out rocks and sticks. In addition, the large eyelet hooks make its lacing very simple and easy with this tongue.

The shoe is comfortably spacious and comes in wide and regular versions. You will easily find a fit comfortable enough for your foot. They are specifically designed for women's feet with higher arches and narrower heel cups than men.

Construction and Quality

The burly mesh and leather upper are top quality. There is also an additional bonus of the metal lacing hooks. Durable, thick toe bumpers and rubber heels add durability and protection. Even on slick and muddy areas, a nubby and super aggressive outsole provides adequate grip. You will also appreciate the thin reflective metal strip fitted on the back of the cuff.

Water Resistance and Breathability

The Gore-Tex membrane on this boot holds up well on the feet. It keeps them dry and away from water. As a result, this shoe remains one of the most breathable trail boots among those fitted with a Gore-Tex membrane.

Best Application

Since it is a midweight hiking shoe, it is supportive enough for day hikes or backpacking trips on rough terrain. In addition, it is a relatively inexpensive shoe. Therefore, I consider its price a fair, recommended retail price.

Verdict

The Vasque is one of the most impressive hiking boots. Much as it might feel like a backpacking boot due to the substantial midsole, the tall cuff, the Gore-Tex liner and the stability plate, the overall responsiveness and comfort make it feel like an athletic or fitness shoe. Vasque is committed to making aesthetic, innovative, and functional footwear with the highest performance standards.

  • Pros
  • Incredibly agile
  • Thick outsole for any terrain
  • Ample stability, thanks to the midsole shank
  • Wide gusseted tongue
  • Great tread
  • Wide and narrow fit options
  • Cons
  • Cuff feels too high sometimes

7. Lowa Women's Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot

Lowa Women's Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot,Stone,7.5 W US
  • Leather hiking boot with corded lace-up vamp and...
  • Padded tongue and collar
  • Waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane
  • Breathable Climate Control footbed
  • Full-length nylon stabilizing shank

If you're looking for the best women's hiking boot that delivers dependable traction and stability, count on the Lowa Renegade Women's Hiking Boots. Wrapped in upper leather that is water-resistant and sealed with a waterproof and breathable inner, this hiking boot is designed to ensure maximum comfort under all conditions. In addition, it provides superior stability, lightweight comfort, and excellent water resistance.

Support

The Vibram EVA sole on this trail boot ensures proper contact with any hiking terrain. The midsole is designed with monowrap technology. With the monowrap technology, the boot up to the sides is articulately wrapped with polyurethane wraps. This ensures underfoot protection, greater shock absorption, stabilization, and durability.

The midsoles are long-lasting and durable. They are also environmentally friendly since they do not require annual adjustment or replacement. Some of the boots manufactured by this company can last up to five years. Unfortunately, that is double the age of most women in hiking boots.

Although many people argue that the nubuck leather uppers are not as agile as other materials such as recycled nylon and mesh, the shoe's durability is unmatchable. You only require a few days of hiking, and the upper leathers will become flexible and soft. In addition, these trail boots have up to 4.5" ankle height, which is vital for stabilizing. They support the ankle and create a good posture while also creating a water barrier due to the height.

Comfort

Comfort is a very important consideration when purchasing hiking boots. The thick padding around the tongue, upper and ankles are excellent. The lacing system is easy to set up. Once you tie them up in the morning, you will not have to re-adjust them again. They will remain comfortable and well secured throughout the day.

Breathability and Water Resistance

The seamless, breathable, and waterproof Gore-Tex membrane lines the boots' interior part, creating a water barrier and allowing moisture to escape. As indicated earlier, the ankle shaft is up to 4.7". This means that the shoe can withstand a depth of up to 4.5" in wet conditions, which is not a very common feature in most backpacking boots. You can walk through grass covered in dew and cross creeks without worrying about wet feet or soggy socks. Snow and rainfall fall off the upper leathers of the shoe without finding the interior part.

Durability

This is one of the most durable hiking boots. The manufacturer guarantees that the shoes can last up to five years. This can be attributed to the leather design and doing away with the mesh materials. So whether you plan to backpack, day hike or hike through the high alpine regions, this hiking is suitable.

Bottom Line

This trekking boot delivers exceptional foot stability and support. However, it still manages to remain reasonably light on the trail. It is a rugged, comfortable, dependable boot for warm and cold environments. These shoes are ultra-effective in keeping your feet debris-free and dry with a Gore-Tex lining and a gusseted tongue design. The Renegade is a top choice for heavy trails and cold weather with excellent grip and traction.

  • Pros
  • Tough and sturdy to handle varying terrain
  • Nylon shank, Monowrap Midsole, and nubuck leather upper for stability
  • Waterproof boots for round the year hiking
  • Derby lacing system for stress-free fit and comfort
  • Climate control footbed

The Danner Light Cascade pays tribute to the Danner's Iconic boots and styles that were very popular in the 70s. It is believed to be one of the greatest backpacking and hiking boots.

Manufactured in Portland, Oregon, this trekking boot features a full-grain and rich leather upper combined with the iconic flat red laces. In addition, the rugged Vibram Kletterlift outsole provides the perfect fit for a casual or outdoor environment.

Durability

If you are looking for a heavy-duty comfort-hiking boot, the Danner fits well in that category. The shoes are made in the US, and they can be tooled and re-crafted to appear new after you have used them for several years. In addition, the stitched-down sole can be replaced if you feel too worn out. This boot has been built to serve you for many years in simple terms.

Comfort

The full-grain and high-cut leather upper provides the ankle with enough support, even when exploring rocky terrain with a 50-pound backpack. The Vibram Kletterlift outsole provides great traction when hiking through trashed trails. It also ensures that the boot does not drag mud along for easy mobility and movement.

The boot's interior has support made from molded polyurethane running from the heel to the instep. For arch support, you get the fiberglass shank. Together with an EVA midsole, these features provide good shock support.

Breathability and Waterproof

The Light Cascade Hiking Boot is fully waterproof. This can be attributed to uniform leather construction with minimal stitching and Gore-Tex liner technology. Breathability is still good in summer, considering the boot is all leather. With warm socks and good gaiters, hiking through snow is a breeze.

Sizing

Many people always have problems finding the right shoe fit for their feet. When it comes to Danner, you will get a hiking boot that is a perfect size for your feet. • Numentum Insol

The Teva Sugarpine is one of the most comfortable and lightest hiking shoes for women. It also has a casual style and different color options offering versatility from town to trail. With excellent water resistance, these shoes remain protective and comfortable through lakeshores or shallow water streams. Similarly designed to a fitness shoe, the Sugarpine offers comfort and durability in a feminine design.

This shoe weighs 1.3 pounds which are lighter than most other hiking shoes. They imitate simple fitness shoes for the indoor environment, but they can comfortably handle the mountains' water, dirt, and rocks. What makes them uniquely lightweight is the mesh construction and simple lacing system. The laces are made from cotton with only four pairs of eyelets. As a result, you will find comfort in the ability to move fast and light in these shoes.

Comfort

These shoes have been lined with moisture-wicking synthetic. The inner support and padding are comfortable on both long to moderate hikes. They are also suitable when walking around town, wearing indoors and for fitness. Despite the narrow sizing observed by some wearers, it runs to its true size.

Support

The Sugarpine is flexible on the toe and forefoot and flexible and supportive under the foot. They provide sufficient arch support, with soft, stretchy uppers and firm soles. After hiking trails, you will observe that the soles will soften while the upper remains as soft as new.

When hiking on moderate and well-managed terrain, it provides a comfortable and fitness shoe-like. You can use the boots in both moderate and steep terrain. Designed with the Numenton Hike Technology, coupled with torsional control and nylon shank, the shoe maintains a lateral stiffness from side to side.

The lacing system is one of the simplest. Designed with only 4 eyelets for the cotton laces to pass through, you can easily loosen or tighten the shoe on the forefoot. This provides a flexible bend when hiking.

Traction

The tread pattern on this shoe is somehow uniform. As a result, when hiking under different terrain, the shoe can maintain traction, keeping you upright and well supported. Whether downhill grades or sandy gravels and granite slabs, the Vibram soles on this shoe provide sufficient traction.

Versatility

The Sugarpine is stylish and casual in design and fits from town to trail. This versatility is best when you are hiking with these shoes. The technical design of most of the hiking boots you will come across lacks a feminine fit. However, this shoe combines a stylish design and is sturdy enough for hiking on the Sierra.

Water Resistance

The main feature of this shoe that cannot be overlooked is water resistance. A breathable mesh on the upper cannot be associated with water resistance in most shoes but is mostly meant for airy feet. However, these hiking shoes have completely evolved, combining an airy mesh with water resistance. This can be attributed to the waterproof suede and leather combination.

Factors to Consider When Looking for Best Womens Hiking Boot

1. Type of hiking boots

When looking for the best hiking boots for women, you will come across three boots; all-around, mid-height trail runner and mountain.

  • All-around: These boots are above-the-ankle and provide excellent support and protection thanks to solid outsoles, moderately stiff midsoles, substantial rands and toe bumpers, and tough upper materials. Most hikers and backpackers prefer a boot in our All-around category, while those with specific demands can choose from a trail runner or mountain boot.
  • Mid-height trail runner: These boots are flexible, lightweight, and cushioned; they are great for comfort and speed on long days, though with more support than a conventional trail running shoe. Conversely, mid-height trail runners are far less stiff, supporting, and protective overall than conventional hiking boots, and their longevity is particularly poor.
  • Mountain: The boots are the most sturdy and go one step further than a traditional hiker in terms of support, durability, protection and traction. Because of their hardness, these boots combine better with aluminum crampons than more flexible versions.

2. Weight

Generally, the weight specification can reveal a lot about a boot: A lighter design boot will be less protective, supporting, and durable overall; however, the advantages include reduced pressure on the body and greater flex and cushion, which frequently translates to better comfort. Hikers and backpackers will look for a balance of performance and weight. If you are sticking to the trail with a low load, mid-height trail runners or the best lightweight hiking boots would be great, while those packing more gear or trekking cross-country will benefit from the increased support of a heavier boot.

3. Waterproofing

When looking for the best women's hiking boots, you will realize that most of the boots are waterproof, which keeps your feet dry whether crossing streams, dodging puddles or trekking in light rains. Most designs include a waterproof and breathable membrane immediately within the outer cloth. In addition to the membrane, most hiking boots include a water-repellent coating on the exterior that helps water droplets bead up and shed.

4. Breathability

Whether heavy-duty hiking boots or lightweight hiking boots, ensure they're breathable when looking for hiking boot options. Besides, as mentioned earlier, a waterproof boot has an intrinsic influence on breathability. By preventing water from entering the outside, less moisture from your sweat can quickly and readily leave from the inside, causing all types of waterproof footwear to run hot in the summer. However, there are significant variances in the capacity of different boot types to ventilate.

5. Stability and support

When looking for the best women's hiking boot, consider the stability and support. Hiking boots are usually designed to be stable underfoot, which often involves a firm outsole and a shank, a piece of hard plastic put between the midsole and outsole. Depending on the intended application, the plastic's length might range from just beneath the arch to the entire length of the boot.

A stiff boot provides a stable platform, which allows the feet to work less hard during ascents and descents and on off-camber terrain. As a result, boots in our mountain category are among the stiffest on the market, making them ideal for off-trail travel with a large load. Conversely, we recommend that mid-height trail runners forego a shank's extra structure, translating to greater flexibility and less stability. Besides, if you're hiking for long and have a heavy pack, a more sturdy boot that increases ankle support is a great option, such as the all-around Salomon X Ultra.

6. Upper materials

Before buying the best women's hiking boot, confirm the quality of the upper materials. The upper of a boot often comprises synthetic nylon, mesh, and leather. Besides, the material directly connects with the boot's durability, breathability, water resistance, and weight.

  • Synthetic nylon and mesh: In the All-around category, woven nylon and open mesh nylon panels are common on mid-height trail runners and hiking boots. These synthetic materials often outperform natural fabrics in terms of breathability and weight savings, and they dry out faster when wet. Nonetheless, they're not very durable, and they do not provide the same level of protection as a thicker leather boot.
  • Full-grain leather: Full-grain leather is thicker, stiffer, and more durable than other leathers such as nubuck. These materials aren't especially light or breathable but are extremely sturdy and water-resistant. The good thing with the material is certain styles can be resoled, so you don't have to replace the entire boot when the lugs wear out.
  • Nubuck leather: is a popular material for hiking boots in our All-around and mountain categories. It is full-grain leather but has a brushed finish with a suede-like feel. The softer touch leather is lighter and more flexible than classic, glossy full-leather options, although the thinner structure compromises durability. Furthermore, nubuck leather breathes better than full-grain leather and is less prone to scuff marks due to its brushed texture. Besides, nubuck boots are heavier than synthetic designs, but the benefit is enhanced durability and protection and a tighter fit with time.

7. Midsole types

Another factor to consider before buying the best women's hiking boot is the midsole types. Hiking over off-camber terrain or carrying heavy luggage may put a lot of strain on your feet, so ensure your hiking boot has a solid base. Midsoles can range from very thin and flexible to stiff and robust. Most are made from EVA foam, TPU, or a mix of the two.

  • EVA: EVA foam is common in the midsole of most mid-height trail runners and lightweight hiking boots. The comfortable, soft material absorbs part of the sting of the heel or midfoot hits while being exceptionally lightweight. Not all EVA should be treated the same way, and patented kinds might range from extremely soft to somewhat stiff. We prefer a strong and stable midsole over excessive cushioning when recording substantial kilometers on rougher terrain. Conversely, soft midsoles tend to break down over time, so anticipate these boots to pack out faster than dedicated hiking boots.
  • TPU: Manufacturers will utilize a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) midsole for tougher applications or separate your feet from harsh impacts. This tough material is less comfortable than EVA. Still, it provides more protection and stability underfoot, so it is common in all-around and mountain boots but not in the trail-runner-inspired styles above. Boots with TPU in the midsole will retain their shape for longer and not collapse as easily as EVA.

8. Toe protection

When looking for the best women's hiking boot, pay attention to the toe protection. Toe caps or rubber rands usually cover the front of most hiking boots and are an important part of backpacking boot design. Besides, these thick rubber parts are designed to hold your toes together if you accidentally kick a boulder on the route.

About the Author

  1. Awesome informational reviews! I learned a bunch about working boots I did not know, especially weight, construction, orthotic design. Very helpful.

      1. Hey Brian,

Have you ever reviewed Cabela’s Meindl Perfect hikers? They seem like a great boot, but I can’t find a lot about them from people that have tried various ones. They are pricey, but german made and super comfy when tried on instore! Trying to decide between them and the Keen Targhee.

        1. Hi Kat,

I had heard of Meindl’s Perfekts earlier, but have never owned them on myself. I agree that they look like great boots from the outside, but will have to trust your judgment on how they feel on the inside, since I’ve never tried them on myself. Thanks for pointing them out, though. I might review them one day.

The KEEN Targhee IIs are also pretty darn good. I’ve worn out multiple pairs over the years and I keep coming back to them!

          Sincerely,

          Brian

  2. Very useful. I was looking for reviews on hiking boots with good support and I was struggling to find any such information until I found your article. Thank you.

  3. Very helpful and timely article! I am looking for waterproof hiking boots to take on my Alaskan cruise this summer and will reference your page as I make my selection.

    1. Thanks a lot, Lisa. I’m glad the Boot Bomb was of use to you.

Will you let us know which boots you ended up with and how you liked’em?

  4. Good bio on each of the boots! Thanks!

What type of BWCA backpacking boot would you suggest for me? I have a narrow heel, but wide feet? Vasque brand does not work for me.

Thanks for all your hard work!!

    1. Hi Lisa,

      Thanks for the compliment.

A narrow heel and wide feet, eh? That’s a really tough spot to be in!

Have you tried the Targhee II?

      Sincerely,

      Brian

      1. I got the Keen Targhee II and LOVE them. So comfortable and lightweight.
I own several pair of Keen and they always fit perfectly.
I did size up on these.

        1. Hi Melanie,

Those Targhee IIs are the top dog shoes for a good reason. I’m glad you are enjoying them. And thanks for letting me and my readers know about how the size worked out for you!

          Sincerely,

          Brian

  5. Hi Brian,
Great site. Just spent a lot of time on it. I am looking for a very lightweight, waterproof hiking boot. I tend to have a wide toe with Morton toe and a narrow heel. Have tried Vasque and others in the past even in wide and they never worked. I am a big fan of Merrell, I have youth Moab mid. But I think I want something over the ankle for more ankle support since mine tend to roll. Problem is I am recovering from fracturing the lower part of my fibula, from an ankle roll so I am a bit concerned about pressure on the fracture site. Looking at the Ahnu Sugarpine, any other suggestions?

    1. Hi Lizz,

The Ahnu Sugarpine is a really good one. Looks good, too.

One other boot that I know runs bigger than usual, is the Ariat Terrain H2O. I’d be interested in that one, if I had wide feet!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  6. Hey Brian!

    Thanks for the great article.

I’m fairly new to the hiking world. I’ve done many short daytrips but looking to expand my range into longer, more challenging hikes, with the aim of long backpacking trips in the future.

I’m going on a trip in April and most of my time will be spent doing semi-challenging daytrips. However, I have wide feet and a weak right ankle from repeated strains. From reading your articles and several others, I’m really interested in the Merrell Mid Waterproof…do you think this will be a good choice? I’m really looking for ankle support (simply because I do have that weakness issue to deal with- I’m very prone to ankle rolling or ankle swelling from repeated use) and something that is lightweight. Also interested in mud resistance…I’ve had trail runners with very poor design in that regard and end up being gritty and stained for ages! Thoughts on the Merrell?

Thanks so much for all of your input! It is greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    A beginner!

    1. Hi Kayleigh,

Having ankles that require support, but that also swell up… that’s a tough spot to be in. On one hand, you’ll need boots that give you ankle support. On the other hand, you’ll need to have enough room to accomodate swelling. Then again, it’s possible that well supported ankles don’t swell too much.

I’ve had a little look for you. On the Merrell’s product page on Amazon, somebody is complaining that they do not provide enough ankle support. However, I’ve also checked out a few other boots. The ones that reviewers say have great ankle support, are these ones right here on this page:

      • New Balance
      • Asolo
      • Oboz
      • Solomon

Let me know if this helps. And good luck on your hiking adventures!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  7. Wow! Thank you Brian for this informative post. I’m an outdoor lover and a hiker and i think this is the best time to invest in some good boots.

    Carolina

  8. Great article- almost too much info. I need a hiking boot for some short day hikes in Colorado. I’m new at this at 66years. I want something light weight with good ankle support.

  9. Hi i suffer from hyperhidrosis (a serious medical condition involving profuse sweating of the feet) and am going trekking over multiple days in warm weather, which boots would you recommend would be the best for wicking away the sweat?
    Thanks Mel

    1. Hi Mel,

I’d go with the Ahnu Sugarpines in this list. They will keep your feet dry for sure.

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  10. Hi! Wondering if you came across the Mammut Trovat Advanced GTX in your research? I’ve had these for years and absolutely love them – even wrote a lengthy review of them on my site.

Thanks for the in-depth information, you clearly did a LOT of research!

    1. Hi Lauren,

I had not come across the Mammuts yet. They look interesting for sure. I’ll review them in the near future. Thanks for letting me know!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  11. Hi Brian,
Thanks for the reviews, they were fantastic. I am hiking the Dolomites in Italy the last week in August. I am not really sure where to put my requirements having never hiked that region before. Do you have any suggestions?

    Update:
Lisa again, I wanted to add that I will be on a hiking retreat and will be hiking 4 hours – 10 miles- 6 days straight ending with a 4 mile hike on the 7th day. Carrying only Camels for water and a few other items. Thanks again.

    1. Hi Lisa,

I’ve never been to the Dolomites myself. However, I’ve taken the liberty of researching them before answering this question.

Since the #1 Keen pick on this list is no longer available, I’d go with the Columbias.

The Columbias are high enough that they’ll protect your feet from gravel that jumps up and would normally get into lower cut footwear. They are also breathable. If you’re going to get them, be sure to start wearing them frequently a week or two before you go on your actual hike.

Have fun at the Dolomites. Please send pictures!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  12. Hi Brian

I was checking out the Keen Women’s Targhee II Mid WP Hiking Boots and saw these ones,
Keen Women’s TERRADORA MID WP Hiking Boots, which received excellent reviews. I am not an extreme hiker but am an avid walker on both trails and all around the city.

Which boot would be better? what’s the difference between each?
    Thanks
    Jane

    1. Hi Jane,

I hadn’t heard from the Terradoras before. But since I’m so familiar with the Targhees… and since the Targhees have a multi year long proven track records, I’d go for the Targhees myself.

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  13. Hi Brian,

What are your thoughts on the Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP?

    Thanks,
    AC

    1. Hi Allison,

At the time of writing, they’re not available anymore.

Looks like Hoka is now going for their Tor Speed 2 model instead. And those look pretty good to me. I’d totally wear them if I were a girl.

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  14. Hi! I need help ???? I have a great fear of heights, but love walking and am determined that my fear will not stop me trapsing along hillsides and cliff routes, however, I currently have some salomon walking boots (can’t remember exactly which ones, but I don’t feel secure on them having slipped on more than one occasion. I feel I need a very grippy pair of boots which would make me feel more secure. Which would you recommend?

    1. Hi Sarah,

Salomon boots are good. You’re not supposed to just slip on them. Is the sole worn out?

Any hiking boot on this page should be really good, since I don’t bother reviewing any sub par footwear. Why bother my readers with bad footwear?

If you’re dead serious about having the ultimate in grip & traction, then you may want to have a look at my mountaineering boot section instead. Click here to read it.

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  15. Great article! I’ve twisted my ankles and pulled my hip flexor due to inadequate shoe support. Which hiking boot has the best arch and ankle support? I like Under Armour Women’s Post Canyon but it’s currently our of stock.
    Thanks!

  16. Hi Brian. This is great reference. I plan to do La Gomera this month end at Canaries. Eventually by 2021 – i will be doing the 4 day hike up Peru for Machu Pichu. In between i will definitely be travelling and walking a lot. Am based out of Belgium and Ahnu is not that easily available here. However Merrell and Timberland are.
Do you have any suggestion for me. In regular sneakers i find that gravel enters my shoes quite often as well. any recommendations ? Thanks for your help.

    regards,
    veena

    1. Hi Veena,

Sneakers aren’t gonna work on any but the easiest trails with no gravel. And even then sometimes they don’t work so well. For hiking, you’ll quickly need boots.

If you have no strong preference one way or another, I would simply go with the KEENs. It’s hard to go wrong with them.

Good luck at Machu Picchu. Is it the Ancoscocha Trail that you’ll be taking?

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  17. Dude, way to hit the mainstream market. Under Armour, but no Hanwag or Mishme? Pretty weak.

    1. Hi David,

      This is the women’s page.

      And you misspelled ‘Mishmi’.

Here is the men’s page, which also doesn’t have those.

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  18. Hi Brian,
I am looking for a lightweight mid sole boot,
As I am going the 10 day Kokoda trek PNG next year.
    I have a small (5.5 – 6) size foot but wide.
Any suggestions for light breathable and quick drying upper for hot humid and wet conditions.
    Thanks in advance
    Jess

    1. Hi Jess,

My girlfriend swears by her KEENs. I’ve seen her getting wet in all sorts of conditions during many of our hikes. Her KEENs dry pretty quickly (on sunny days) and she’s a happy hiker.

      Hope that helps!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  19. Thanks for the list! No.s 2 & 3 are not available, do you have similar recommendations please? Thank you.

    1. Hi Melanie,

I just checked. No. 2 is currently available and it’s marked as a best seller, too!

      Sincerely,

      Brian

  20. Hello, Brian:

Which women’s HIKING shoe is best for Machu Picchu?

Also, which women’s WALKING shoe is best for high arches?

Thanks much and Happy New Year!
